Litter Pick

02 November 2011

On a cold November afternoon, 12 students of John Snow College and 3 members of staff held a litter pick.  The litter pick started at the main building on Queen's Campus and walked to the Accommodation that the students live in.  This was an eye opener for many of the students and local residents because normally the walk would only take 8 minutes but we collected over 15 full bags of litter and one rather large abandoned television.

Wolfson Riverbank Clean Up

25 January 2012

The Riverbank Conservation Project is a volunteering opportunity open to all staff and students in partnership with British Waterways, staff from Queen's Campus, and Student Community Action. The project is part of a longer-term plan to manage riverbank vegetation along the River Tees.

Volunteers were invited to go along to help clear overgrown vegetation and clear up the river bank with tasks involving pruning trees and thinning shrubbery.  John Snow students participated in the riverbank clean up with enthusiasm.
