Commonwealth Awards

Note: these awards are open to students from the Falkland islands, Maldives, Seychelles and St Helena.

Commonwealth Scholarships may be offered to students from Commonwealth countries. Further information is available from the Association of Commonwealth Universities which also publishes a booklet, Scholarships Guide for Commonwealth Postgraduate Students. NAFUD Scholarships

Thanks to the generosity of the North American Foundation for the University of Durham, the University is able to offer a number of scholarships to talented undergraduate students from the USA starting their studies at Durham in 2010. 

The scholarships will take the form of a £1,000 reduction in tuition fees per annum for three years, and will be awarded to selected students on the basis of their application for a place at the University.  Recipients will be contacted by 28th February 2010.

International Office Undergraduate Scholarships for Indian students

The International Office is offering three merit-based scholarship awards of £3,000 each. To qualify for consideration for an award, students will need to:

  • Be holding Durham University as their 'firm' choice through UCAS
  • Present the following qualifications; Standard XII with 90% overall or IB with 38 points or A level A*AA in order to be eligible for consideration
  • Satisfy the admissions requirement of their chosen course, including English Language proficiency
  • Be a national from, and residing in, India
  • Be liable to pay fees at the overseas student rate
  • Be intending to start their course of study in September 2012

The deadline for submission of applications (and consideration for the scholarship) will be as per the UCAS deadline, the 30th June 2012. Students who meet the conditions above will automatically be considered for an award. Scholarship recipients will be advised as soon as possible, following the release of exam results and consideration by a panel of international office and academic staff.

International Office Undergraduate Scholarship for a Nepalese student

The International Office is offering one merit-based scholarship award of £3,000, exclusive to student's applying through The Chopras, Nepal. To qualify for consideration for the award, students will need to:

  • Be holding Durham University as their 'firm' choice through UCAS
  • Present the following qualifications: A level A*AA or IB with 38 points or higher in order to be eligible for consideration
  • Satisfy the admissions requirement of their chosen course, including English Language proficiency
  • Be a national from, and residing in, Nepal
  • Be liable to pay fees at the overseas student rate
  • Be intending to start their course of study in September 2012
