Erasmus, Exchange & Study Abroad

Fees & Finance

Tuition Fees

The exchange agreements between the Durham University and its partner universities mean that students are not required to pay tuition fees to the host partner for the duration of the exchange period (unless otherwise stated).

Students are still required to pay tuition fees to Durham University. If you are away from the University for the full academic year then you will be required to pay the ‘year abroad fee’. This equates to approximately half of your normal full tuition fee. If you receive assistance with paying your tuition fees this support should remain the same (this should be confirmed with the Treasurer’s Department and your LEA).

If you are away from the University for less than one academic year then you will be required to pay your normal full tuition fee.

Student Loans

Even though you are studying overseas for the year you are still eligible to receive your student loan and your Local Education Authority (LEA) may also be able to provide additional assistance for travel costs.
