Accommodation

Accommodation at Durham University is organised by the Colleges. The Durham Colleges are not responsible for teaching but are purely residential and social communities. They are more than just places to eat and sleep. Instead, each college is a small community providing a wide range of activities and facilities for study, sports, the arts, socialising, relaxation and welfare. All students coming to Durham on the Study Abroad Programme are guaranteed a place in one of the Colleges.

Colleges will offer different let periods and college costs will vary accordingly. College costs are not included in the tuition fees.

How much are the living expenses for a year in Durham?

We advise to budget for approximately £2,000 additional costs for a full academic year in Durham. This includes clothing, phone, leisure and necessities. A breakdown of estimated costs can be found here.
