Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get funding?
One of the benefits of the Erasmus programme is the availability of mobility grants for students. While the grants are tied to certain eligbility criteria (see Am I eligible to participate?) the application for the grant is not competitive. Durham presently provides grants for approximately 130 study and 130 work placements per year. The grant is not meant to be a full scholarship but rather to cover additional expenses of stuying abroad.
Students undertaking a study placement at an Erasmus partner University are exempt from tuition fees at the host university. Tuition fees at Durham University may be reduced or waived depending on the time spent abroad. Please see Fees and Finance for further information.
If you are getting a UK student loan you are eligible to receive the loan (tuition and maintenance) during your time abroad. Please check with your Student Finance/Local Authority for details.
