Programme of Events
Induction programmes are an important part of your initial introduction to Durham University. The information below gives a brief overview of the Induction and Welcome Events that will be taking place shortly after your arrival at Durham. You are strongly encouraged to attend and should therefore arrange international travel well in advance to ensure that you don't miss out!
Friday 28th September (afternoon)
On Friday 28th September, the International Office will be hosting information sessions at both the Durham and Stockton campuses. These information sessions are designed to provide you with vital information that you will require both during your studies at Durham and whilst you are living in th UK. The major banks will be present, to enable you to discuss banking and finance, and there will also be representatives from the University Health Centre, the English Language Centre, the Careers, Employability and Enterprise Centre, Finance Office and the International Office, as well as a range of other services of interest to international students.
Queen's Campus, Stockton:
10-10:30am
Introductory talk from Colleges at the Ebsworth Building, rooms D003 and D004.
10:30am-1pm
Information session at the Holliday Building.
Durham City: 2pm-4pm
Information session on the fourth floor of the Calman Learning Centre, Lower Mountjoy.
Friday 28th September (evening)
Ustinov College and Josephine Butler College: 8:30pm
On the evening of Friday 28th September, all international and postgraduate students, both from Queen's Campus and Durham City, are warmly invited to attend our welcome event, held at Ustinov College and Josephine Butler College in Durham City. With salsa dancing, karaoke, and a ceilidh, this promises to be a fun-filled evening not to be missed! Details of the coach departure points and times from Queen's Campus will follow shortly.
Saturday 29th September
Queen's Campus, Stockton: 2pm-4pm
All international and postgraduate students at Queen's Campus are warmly invited to an afternoon garden party on the riverside with a traditional English cream tea, brass band and other entertainment.
College induction programmes
Following on from the Induction and Welcome Events hosted by the International Office, all international students will follow a College induction programme. As Durham's collegiate system is unique, you will find your induction programme will be unique to your individual College.
