Information for overseas self-financing taught postgraduate students
The UK's points-based immigration system requires overseas students to demonstrate that they have the appropriate finances in place in order to apply for a visa to enter the UK. To help all self-financing overseas students applying for postgraduate taught programmes at Durham we have introduced a tuition fee deposit. The tuition fee deposit is paid before the University issues a Confirmation of Acceptance to Study (CAS) number which overseas students need in order to apply for a visa. The CAS will show the deposit paid and will help you to demonstrate that you have the finances required in order for you to enter the UK to study.
The deposit you pay will be credited to your account with the University and so reduce the amount that you have to pay when you are at Durham. The deposit is non-refundable unless you fail to meet the academic conditions of your offer or you are unsuccessful in your visa application. Please note that failure to pay the deposit by the required deadline may result in your offer being withdrawn.
How to make your deposit payment...
Once you have received and accepted your offer, we strongly encourage you to make your deposit payment via our online payment facility and you can access this at www.durham.ac.uk/deposits/. Follow the instructions given on the website and, once submitted, you will receive an email to confirm that the payment has been made. This is the most secure and efficient way to make your payment. If you are unable to pay via this web page please email studentbilling.query@durham.ac.uk and a member of staff from the Student Billing Team will be happy to assist you.
