The Institute of Medieval and Renaissance Studies is one of the most diverse and dynamic centres of medieval and Renaissance studies in the world. The IMRS aims to inform the shape of medieval and Renaissance studies through its researchers and their collaborative, interdisciplinary projects, through its engagement with funding councils and public policy, through its first-rate postgraduate community, and through its national and international impact. The unique resources of Durham - collections of manuscripts and early printed books unparalleled outside Oxford, Cambridge and London, unsurpassed history and architecture, and first class students and staff form the intellectual hub for the IMRS. The Institute includes forty-five scholars across thirteen Departments and three Faculties, as well as a vibrant community of postgraduates.
Above all, the IMRS provides a forum and network for contact and the exchange of information. Always lively, the Durham medieval and Renaissance scene is now set for still more activity and excitement. If you are in Durham already, engage! If you are considering coming here, we look forward to welcoming you.
For 2011-12 we will host a series of events including our long established seminar series, numerous conferences, workshops and exhibitions. View our new year of events and seminar series using the options on the tool bar to the left.
