Medical (Health) Screening

If you applying to come to the UK as a student for more than 6 months, you may need to be tested to show that you are free from Tuberculosis (TB) before you apply for your visa. Your application will be refused if your are required to have a test, but you either refuse or fail the test.

To find out whether you are required to be tested for TB, go to the UKBA website and find the information for your country.

In May 2012 UK Border Agency (UKBA) announced that they have increased the list of countries who require TB testing and this will be implemented over summer 2012. You can view the statement and full list of countries affected here.

These changes will take affect when announced by UKBA and until that time exisiting arrangements still apply.

Further information will be published on this page as it becomes available.

Some students may be required to attend an x-ray at University Hospital of North Durham or mantoux screening at the University Health Centre on Green, please follow the maps below.
