Professor Michael Bohlander to teach at Faculty of Shari'ah and Law of Al-Azhar University

Durham Law School's Professor Michael Bohlander will be a visiting professor at the English Department of the Faculty of Shari'ah and Law at Al-Azhar University in Cairo in spring 2012, where he will teach a course on comparative criminal law. Al-Azhar University is commonly considered the oldest university in the Islamic world and the prime seat of learning and academic authority in Sunni Islam (see http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/46851/al-Azhar-University). Professor Bohlander is the first visiting scholar to the Faculty of Shari'ah and Law at Al-Azhar University and the first non-Muslim to give lectures there.
