Seminar - Spatial patterns of earthquake triggered landslides

15th June 2010, 12:30 to 14:00, Seminar Room 010, Department of Geography, Lucille Tatard, LGIT, Grenoble, France

Lucille Tatard from LGIT, Grenoble, France will present a seminar entitled ‘Spatial patterns of earthquake triggered landslides’.  Large earthquakes commonly trigger widespread and destructive landsliding.  However, factors controlling the spatial distribution of seismically triggered landslides remain poorly understood.  In this seminar Tatard considers spatial patterns of landsliding produced by five recent earthquakes, examining common characteristics of these events, along with geophysical factors controlling the occurrence of landslides.
