Public Lecture (Institute of Advanced Study) - Facing climate change: Towards sustainable planning and management of water resources

27th October 2009, 17:15 to 18:30, Birley Room, Hatfield College, Ezio Todini, University of Bologna

Climate change and over-exploitation of water resources requires a radical rethinking about how we envisage water resource development, not only in economic terms but mainly in relation to quality of life and environment. The sustainability concept implies that water can no longer be regarded as an unlimited resource to be exploited. This presentation will introduce the concept of sustainable development of water resources as well as possible objectives and tools to be used in its future management.
