Increasing Resilience to Natural Hazards Report

(15 June 2011)

A new report published by IHRR is available, 'Building Rural Resilience in Seismically Active Areas'.

This Research Brief introduces work by a multi-disciplinary team of researchers on building resilience of rural communities to seismic hazards in Nepal. Findings of the research fall under four different themes:

  • Local understandings and perception of earthquake hazards
  • Uneven local knowledge
  • Forecasting primary and secondary seismic hazards
  • Science communication and the governance of earthquake risk reduction activities
