Hatfield College
The Visiting Fellowship will be normally appointed for one term plus an additional week or two (i.e. ten to twelve weeks in all). Occasionally, it is possible to accommodate a Visiting Fellow for two terms, and during the summer vacation.
There is no salary attached to the post but the accommodation and all meals are provided free of charge for the Fellow and partner where applicable. The Fellow automatically becomes a member of the SCR, which has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The Fellow's accommodation is a centrally situated flat suitable for a single person or a married couple, but not for children. It comprises a living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and toilet en suite.
Although the Fellow is housed in the College, the research work will normally be undertaken within a department of the University. The College has close connections with the Geography and Theology departments, but welcomes applications from any academic discipline. We will endeavour to help establish links between the Fellow and a suitable department, but the detailed arrangements have to be made directly with the department. Hatfield has a growing commitment to environmental sustainability, so that applications in this broad field would be especially welcome.
At the end of the period of research the Fellow will be expected to report on his or her work. It is hoped that the Fellow will present one seminar of general interest to the Hatfield College community in the relevant subject area while he or she is resident in College.
