Directorate

The Institute of Advanced Study is led by four directors, appointed by the Vice-Chancellor of Durham University, representing the three academic faculties at Durham:

• Professor Veronica Strang, Executive Director
• Professor Barbara Graziosi, Director (Arts and Humanities)
• Professor Martin Ward, Director (Science)
• Professor Stuart Elden,  Director (Social Sciences)

The Directors are responsible for the running of the Institute and the development of the IAS academic programme, ensuring that all of the University’s subject areas and interests are represented in its activities. They are supported in their work by the Institute's Administrator, Linda Crowe, the Institute Secretary, Audrey Bowron, and the IAS Advisory Council.
