Durham University allows part time teachers exemptions on the grounds of qualifications, professional recognition and prior experience in teaching and supporting learning - see Exemptions from the Durham University Learning and Teaching Awards for part-time teachers.
- The content of the Postgraduate Certificate was revised for academic year 2009/10, such that Modules 1 and 2 will comprise 40 credits leading automatically to fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
- The Durham Induction Programme consists of an e-learning module and two workshops.
Additional Notes
- The requirements set out above only apply to new staff appointed from academic year 2008/9.
- Faculty PVCs must approve any exemption to completion of modules 1 and 2 of the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PG CAP), for example because appointees have completed an equivalent course at another University. In such cases these staff are expected to apply for and become Fellows of the HEA as part of the Probationary requirements.
- Existing staff are encouraged, but not required to partcipate in the relevant course.
In cases where the Postgraduate Certificate is not a contractual requirement, you are encouraged to participate if you wish.
