The Leazes Road Library, which serves as the College Library, is situated on the ground floor of the School of Education building, next to the College Chapel. As far as is possible, the major core texts that are recommended on departmental reading lists are provided. Working space with wifi for laptops is provided alongside the books, and there is also a dedicated Postgraduate Study Area. The professional Librarians are assisted by paid Student Library Assistants who provide evening and weekend cover.
One 24-hour access computer room is provided; equipped with 28 networked PCs and two printers.
In addition, all student study bedrooms are en-suite on-line for internet access.
The George Smith Reading Room, named after a former Vice-Principal of the College, is adjacent to the Library and is an extension of it. Access to the room is on a 24-hour basis throughout the academic terms and there are spaces for 40 people.
During the Easter Term when examinations take place additional rooms are made available in which students can study.
These facilities are heavily used, particularly by non-resident students who require space for revision.
The Carol Carr Reading Room, named after a former Senior Tutor of the College is also adjacent to the Library. It is equipped with comfy sofas, and is a good place to chill out as well as study. Access to the room is on a 24-hour basis throughout the academic terms.
