Undergraduate Life
Every Durham University student belongs to a college - a vibrant, supportive community that provides opportunities for you to gain new experiences and develop skills to achieve more in your future life.
We welcome students to Hild-Bede who have an eagerness to become involved in the College community as a whole, in addition to having the potential and desire to learn.
All teaching is undertaken by your department and the College does not have a direct input. However, many academic-related processes are undertaken in College by the Senior Tutor and Principal; attendance monitoring, Academic Concessions, Academic Appeals, etc. Unofficial academic support is provided by Personal Tutors who may also be members of the academic staff.

Meet Michael...
"Hild-Bede seemed to have everything on offer; traditional beautiful buildings, sports facilities, its own cinema and endless possibilities for getting involved and meeting a large number of new people from a variety of different backgrounds. I absolutely love the college experience. The tutor system is highly useful and the welfare links make the college a close-knit community. The collegiate system has helped me become involved in things I never would have before."
