There's a lot to learn about college and Durham in general but don't fear, if its important its on this page, handily organised into categories. Any current student can add to or update this information so that everyone can benefit from each others' experiences.
Athletic Union
Another part of the Students’ Union is DUAU, Durham University Athletic Union, which is in charge of the University sports teams and societies. The University has teams in most sports to a very high standard and competes on a national scale. If you have received information about joining clubs before you arrive and even when you first get here, make sure that you are of a high enough standard to be able to play. University clubs are often expensive to join and if you part with your subs of £35+ and then don’t get to play or don’t have enough time it would be a great shame.
Having said that, a lot of Hild Bede students represent the University at the highest levels, particularly cricket, rugby (union and league), rowing and many other sports. “Team Durham”, is attempting to raise standards even further - it’s even rumoured that members have to give up alcohol when joining!
