One of Hatfield's strengths is the opportunity that College provides for all students to get involved in all sorts of activities in sports, music, drama and outreach in the community. There are also opportunities for taking leadership positions.

At the heart of the Hatfield student experience are 'Formals'. These are evening dinners held in the Georgian dining hall twice a week for most of the Michaelmas and Epiphany Terms and thereafter once a week. Gowns and smart dress, Latin grace, the magnificent surroundings of the hall, candelebras... all adds to the 'Formal' experience. Occasionally we also have black tie guest nights and themed Formals. Dinner is usually followed by fun in the bar before ending up in one of the local nightclubs or DSU's Planet of Sound.
