College Residence Charges
In addition to the tuition fees, students pay residence charges (if they live in College accommodation) and Full Members pay an annual MCR levy of £50.
In addition, for Full Members, there is a one-off fee of £20 which includes life membership of the Hatfield Association and a contribution to the Hatfield Trust. These levies are added to your first term's bill, so please ensure you budget for them. Postgraduate members who have progressed from undergraduate study at Hatfield only pay the annual fee of £50.
Residence Charges in James Barber House
- The charge for a full residence period (50 weeks) self-catering single in a study-bedroom for 2013/14 is £4,868.
For students on PGCE or 40 week Diploma courses a small number of places are available:

Postgraduate Student Financial Planning
Preparing a financial plan before you come to Durham will help you manage your money. As long as your finances are sorted, you can relax and enjoy all the other aspects of student life! We strongly recommend that you work out a budget for your first year. Your budget should show your income, your necessary expenditure and your luxury expenditure.
Filling in the Postgraduate Student Budgeting spreadsheet will create your personal budget for the academic year. You may be asked to send a copy of this budget plan to College before your postgraduate studies start.
We realise that finding the right funding package to support your postgraduate studies is of great importance to you. To help you find the finance you need, the University works hard seeking external sources of scholarships and students loans and provides awards through the prestigious Durham Doctoral Fellowships and numerous other University and departmental schemes. Postgraduate Scholarships in Hatfield
Between May and June each year, applications are invited for postgraduate scholarships. The Hatfield Trust provides funds for a limited number of Floreat Fund Scholarships for applicants who were members of the College as undergraduate students. Further information is available below. Anyone interested in applying should email the Master, Professor Tim Burt, attaching a brief curriculum vitae and a letter of application which must include justification as to why you need financial support.
