Every year to celebrate Bonfire Night, Grey College puts on one of the biggest light displays in the North East.
At the heart of this event is the Grey College Fireworks Committee who brings the show to Durham in November. Choreographed by the head of the committee to an impressive soundtrack this fireworks display is one of the iconic events of the college's and University's calendar, attracting people in their thousands from all over Durham.
This event was started back in 2000 and has had continued success over the years with each year having the unique touch of that year's choreographer whether it is a calm waterfall of light flowing to the melody of Nessum Dorma or a Catherine Wheel Crescendo during the buildup in Fix You. Each year has been a fantastical lights display with the event winning the Durham Student Award for Best Student Event of the Year 09/10.
What more could you want from an award winning Fireworks spectacular on Grey Hill over the backdrop of the Cathedral?
Each year we try to make it that little bit better; that little bit more atmospheric, so why not get involved? Look out for the emails at the start of Michaelmas term!
