Alternative Handbook Representatives

Hi Grey,

This coming Sunday at the JCR meeting there are going to be elections for Alternative Handbook Representatives.

This is a great chance to get involved with the writing, editing and formatting of the Alternative Handbook which is sent out in the summer to all Freshers’ before they come to Grey. Here is the link to last year’s handbook (http://www.dur.ac.uk/grey.jcr/applicants/handbook.php).

It includes information and articles about college life, food, accommodation, social life, nights out, information about other colleges, sports, societies and committees. There is also a chance to write about other things such as what to bring to uni, a guide to fancy dress, a guide to Durham slang, FAQs, do’s and don’t’s of Freshers week, things we wish we knew before we arrived.  Any new ideas would also be welcome!!!

Being an Alternative Handbook Representative won’t take up too much of your time and you can choose the extent to which you are involved.

If you are interested in writing, photography, design or editing and want to get involved all you will need to do is come to the JCR meeting, stand up and say why you want to do it. There is going to be no limit as to how many Representatives we have so bring your friends along as the more we have the better it will be!

If anyone has any questions or wants to know more just get in touch!

Best wishes,

Caroline  xxx

Hey Grey :)

Application forms for Freshers Helpers are out - find them in your DUO inbox. They will also be outside the dining hall by Tuesday Evening and Gopala will have a few during his livers out hours on Wednesday

I will be collecting applications on 9th June for an hour from 11.59pm at the Race Course Gazebo - Don't worry if you don't know exactly where that is - If you head down towards the medical centre I'm sure you'll spot us by the river- we'll be the random crowd of people having a BBQ at midnight ! Late applications will not be considered.

Interviews will take place during the following week, starting on the 12th of June, so keep that week open if your interesting in being a part of the team.

This year we have 20 places up for grabs, compared to the normal 8 as core-exec no longer get an automatic place on the team. With this in mind we are looking for a diverse, enthusiastic team across all year groups that will show the new freshers everything Durham has to offer. If you think you have something exciting and unique to bring to the team please don't hesitate to apply.
