| Wake up every day of the week to a cooked breakfast or a cereal of your choice, complemented by a wide variety of hot-drinks including coffee and hot chocolate. |
You'll get 3 meals a day - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Breakfast runs from 8.00- 10.00 am with a hot cooked breakfast available every day between 8.00am and 9.00am. There's also cereal, toast, croissants, fruit and jams as well as orange juice, apple juice, tea and coffee. Lunch is open from 11.45am -2.15pm; there are several hot options on offer as well as baguettes and jacket potatoes, a self-service salad bar and soup. You can also get yoghurts and fruit. Dinner is served every evening between 5.30pm and 7.30pm and involves a choice of two hot options, a pasta bar and dessert. Meal times at weekends are 5.00-7.00pm but occasionally they do vary for special events such as formals. Brunch is also served on Saturday mornings and Sunday lunch is served on Sundays. The Dining Hall is also the social hub of Grey with everyone eating together, sharing the day's news!
FormalsOne of the things to look forward to when coming to Durham! With a three course meal and half a bottle of wine, the food is always great and if you don't want to drink you can opt for two J20's with your meal instead. They're held at least every couple of weeks and will usually have a theme or are held for a special occasion, such as the Christmas formal and the Burn's Night formal. Booking for formals is done via the JCR website and places are sold on a first-come-first-served basis. The dress code is smart or black tie and you have to wear your gown. There are also strict rules about etiquette at formals.
