Grey College

Grey College Association

Alumni

Grey College Alumni Association is an organisation who’s purpose is to keep past members of College in touch with Grey and up to date on wider university affairs. Whether your lasting memories are of the bar, the library, the stage or the sports field the Alumni Association has something to offer you.

Established in 1959 to support graduating members of the College, the original President was the Master of the day, Sydeney Holgate. As the number of alumni grew, the Association expanded and in time Dr Holgate stood aside, making way for a number of Presidents over the last 4 decades. The Association was headed for many years by Richard Butler, who with his executive firmly established the Alumni Association, developing and organising a number of events which have always been well supported and attended.

Over the 50 years the college has seen many changes. It now has a mixed sex population, the Senior Man (now known as the JCR President) position has become sabbatical and the building of Holgate House has brought the college into the 21st century. These changes have also affected the Alumni Association, and now with a new executive the Association is building upon the established framework. Whilst maintaining the existing events and reunions, the Executive Committee are developing new and additional activities to cater for all tastes and age groups.

With this in mind I would ask that you keep visiting this and the association website to check on the latest developments, update yourself on college affairs and most importantly let the Executive Committee know what YOU want to see from YOUR Association. In the meantime I hope to see you at a reunion soon and with the traditional Grey spirit wish you the best.
