Public Transport

Information regarding public transport is available under two separate sections, bus travel and train travel. There are many links to relevant websites for public transport providers on each section.

Details listed in the bus travel section include:

  • Durham University has also joined Arriva's Employer Travel Club which allows staff to spread the cost of an annual season ticket by paying by direct debit per month. This scheme commenced 1st January 2012. New zones have been introduced for 2013, and all staff working at either Durham or Queen's Campus are eligible to join the scheme. For more details about the scheme go to season bus ticket link. 
  • A bus service - 40B - for staff and students at peak times is now available to allow communiting from Durham Railway Station, via the Bus Station, to Mountjoy - Science Site.
  • A new temporary bus service to Ushaw College, the U1 is available free to staff and students travelling to Ushaw College. Travel is available between Durham Bus Station (using the bus stop on North Road outside of the bus station) and Ushaw College offering an hourly service between 07:23 and 19:01 (to Douglas Gardens 19:49).

A new service has been launched by Go North East. The X7, which commenced 25 March 2013, travels between Sunderland and Middlesbrough, with stops in Seaham, Peterlee, Stockton High Street and Queen's Campus. For timetable information, click on this link.
