Travel Information
The University is keen to promote Green Travel. The aim of these pages is to inform University staff and students about the different options for travelling to Durham City and Queen's Campus and between Durham and Stockton. Please follow the appropriate links for more information.
The University has two Green Travel Plans, one for Durham City and one for Queen's Campus. These travel plans set out objectives and targets which are monitored by undertaking travel surveys on a regular basis. For more details please go to Green Travel Plans.
The University also has an inter-campus bus service offering free travel to all staff and students between Durham City and Queen's Campus Stockton throughout the year. A bus service is also available from Durham railway station via the bus station and New Elvet to Mountjoy (Science Site) and a timetable is availble for the service which runs during peak times in the morning or afternoon.
Other travel information included relates to the University's own car share scheme, cycling, walking and public transport, including bus and rail travel, and Park and Ride. The University offers local guided lunchtime walks around Durham City and Queen's Campus. For more information please see the walking section. Each campus has it's own Bicycle User Group; there are also different cycling events and activities taking place and further details can be found in the cycling section, which also includes lunchtime bike rides. A cycle hire scheme is available for students based at Queen's Campus.
