'Wilderness to Paradise'- Science Site Courtyard

(14 June 2010)

Over the last few years Ian Marriott and Stephen Kidd ( and occasionally other work colleagues) have slowly turned the Science Site courtyard sump, which was a wasteland, into a very pleasant little garden where people can go and relax.

There are many colourful flowers which attract the insects and consequently the birds. There are also some very secretive fish and in the past a male and female duck have spend their winter holidays here. There is even a fountain and the sound of trickling water which makes the area feel very tranquil and relaxing. All of this work has been carried out using recycled materials such as old waste paper bins, telecoms cabinets and a couple of large concrete blocks . Why not go take a look at this beautiful little are? You will find the courtyard behind chemistry and below the Maths/IT building. Many thanks to Ian and Stephen for their hard work!
