Lord Puttnam Lecture - 25th May

Green Issues and Climate Change exhibition
Lord Puttnam is an Oscar winning film producer responsible for numerous films including Chariots of Fire, Local Hero and The Killing Fields. Since retiring from the film industry in 1998 he has been actively involved in education and the environment. He is Chancellor of the Open University and chaired the Joint Parliamentary Climate Change Bill Scrutiny Committee.

Prior to the lecture, an exhibition on Green issues and Climate Change took place in the Café at the Calman Learning Centre. A selection of local organisations exhibited, namely The Energy Saving Trust, Groundwork North East, Durham County Council (Green Travel, Love Food Hate Waste, and Warm Homes), Livingstreets, Climate Change Schools Project. Narec and the University's skip contractor (John Wade) also exhibited at the event. Internal exhibitors consisted of a general environment stall (waste, energy, travel and Fairtrade), SLAG, DSU, the Library, DBUG, Durham Energy Institute and Procurement.
