Graduation

Pass Lists

A pass list is the published list which indicates that a student has successfully completed their postgraduate degree. Pass lists for Postgraduate Taught Students are published online at the SPA webpages, and are given to Postgraduate Research Students on submission of the final hard-bound and electronic theses.

Congregation (Graduation)

Congregation is the term used to describe our graduation ceremonies and means a gathering of members and friends of the University to witness and celebrate the conferring of degrees.

Summer Congregation 2013 will be held between Tuesday 25 and Friday 28 June 2013, view the summer timetable of departments to ceremonies.

Students are required to register using the Congregation and Parchment registration system via DUO before 19 June. Students are advised to register early and do not need to wait until the pass list has been published.

The registration system will enable students to:

  • confirm contact details for the parchment (certificate)
  • state whether or not you wish to attend the Summer Congregation ceremony or defer to the Winter Congregation
  • if attending the ceremony, request guest tickets, order robes and photographs

Winter Congregation 2014 will be held on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 January. Further information will be published later in the year.

Queries regarding parchments (certificates), which will be posted to graduates within 6 weeks of Congregation, or requests for transcripts of results prior to the issue of parchments, shoud be directed to the Student Planning and Assessment Office.

Parchments & Transcripts

The Student Planning and Assessment Office (SPA) is responsible for the production of Parchments and Transcripts for all Postgraduate students. Following the award of qualifications, usually at the congregation ceremonies in January and July, students will normally receive one copy of each of these documents, free of charge.

Transcripts are normally produced within 10 working days, and parchments posted out within two months of a degree ceremony.
