Enrolment & Registration: Getting Access to IT, the Library and your Campus Card

To ensure you get access to IT facilities, the Library and your student card (Campus Card) as quickly as possible, Durham University allows you to begin the process of online enrolment & registration once you have accepted your offer to take up postgraduate study.

Online Enrolment

A few days after you accept your place, you will receive an email with your user name and password. Once you have this, you can log into the University's online learning enviroment - Durham University Online (DUO) - and enrol.

You should check and update your personal information, tuition fee details, and confirm that you will abide by the University's rules and regulations.

You can upload a photograph via the enrolment system. If you do this successfully before 19 September 2009, and complete the rest of the enrolment process, your Campus Card will be ready when you arrive, and you won't have to queue.

Module Registration

All students should collect their registration forms from their colleges (or academic department for those part-time students who do not have a college).

Postgraduate Taught Students, and Professional Doctorate/Integrated PhD Students

You should confirm your choice of modules. Module Registration will take place shortly after you arrive in Durham. Your department will give you advice about choosing modules. Once you have chosen your modules, have the module form authorized by your department, and hand it in to a registration desk.

Other Postgraduate Research Students

You should sign your form and hand it in to a registration desk.

Verification of Identity

If you are a new student you are required to provide your College with proof of your identity during the first few days after your arrival on campus. We accept the following photographic identification as proof of identity:

  • Current passport
  • Current driving licence
  • Current European identity card

If you are a UK student and you do not have either of these forms of identification, you may supply your original Birth Certificate.

Continuing Students

Continuing students will need to enrol and register during the official University Registration Period. Enrolment can be completed online, but you must confirm your module choices/return your registration for in person.
