What is Go?
Where can I learn Go?
- The Interactive Way To Go provides an excellent starting point - it'll guide you through the rules with many interactive examples
- Jenny Radcliffe wrote an overview of how to play
- If you want to try out some problems, GoProblems.com has an enormous
range at all levels and of many types
- The KGS Teaching Ladder is a good place to go for reviews and teaching games
- The Go Teaching
Ladder provides a reviewing service, so that you can get your
games reviewed by stronger players
- Wikibooks Go explains how to play, although it's unfinished
- Or, possibly best of all, visit a club! See below for more - Durham is always welcoming to new players, and happy to teach beginners
Where can I play Go?
- Go can be played online using various servers, and you'll
often find some Durham players and graduates on KGS
(in particular in the British Room)
- Another similar option is Pandanet IGS
- DGS (Dragon Go Server) is slightly different, in that it offers turn based games (think correspondance chess)
- Alternatively, you can play in person - if you're in Durham, why not come along to a club meeting?
- If you're not in Durham, the British Go Association
maintains a list of clubs around the UK
