Biography
2009 - 2012: PhD Geography, University of Durham (ESRC funded CASE studentship with the North East Public Health Observatory).
2008 - 2009: MA in Research Methods (Geography), University of Durham.
2005 - 2008: BA (Combined Honours), University of Durham.
Jo Cairns is a teaching fellow in Geography and a research associate at the Wolfson Research Institute for Health & Wellbeing. Jo completed her PhD and MA in the Geography department, Durham University. Her doctoral research explored the concept of ‘health resilience’.
Jo’s current research interests include health inequalities, health promotion, assets-based approaches, community capacity building, risk and resilience particularly in relation to (ill)health, social capital, and social (in)justice issues.
