Science and religious faith are often pitted against each other – particularly in recent debates about cloning and reproductive technologies. However, social science research has begun to paint a more nuanced picture of these arguments, suggesting that public responses to technologies such as biotechnology and nanotechnology are often expressed using spiritual and moral language.
