Glacial Retreat in Antarctica and Deglaciation of the Earth System (GRADES - QWAD)

A research project of the Department of Geography, part of the Quaternary Environmental Change (QEC) research group.

Background

Mike Bentley is currently funded by British Antarctic Survey (a NERC Institute) to carry out research on the onshore geological record of West Antarctic Ice Sheet history, as part of their core programme GRADES - QWAD (Quaternary West Antarctic Deglaciation). The aims of the programme are summarised here.

Emma Watcham, is also funded by BAS to undertake PhD research on past sea level change in the South Shetland Islands, as a way of providing independent constraints on past ice sheet volume.
