Dr Alex Densmore awarded a NERC urgency grant to study the May 12, 2008 Sichuan earthquake
(9 September 2008)
The research will map the location, orientation, and magnitude of surface slip in the 12th May 2008 Sichuan earthquake, and determine whether the structures that ruptured have been active in the past.
The earthquake provides an unprecedented opportunity to see the relationships between the short-term and long-term patterns of deformation that have created the Longmen Shan or Dragon's Gate Mountains.
