Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May - Shiver me Timbers!
Find out about shipwreck archaeology and make a treasure chest to take home.
Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May - The Vikings
Try Viking rune writing and making amulets to ward off evil spirits!
Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May - The Great Greeks
Find out about the ancient legend of the Trojan Horse and make your own to take home.
Whitsun Half Term Holiday
Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May - The Romans are Coming
Find out about the Romans and make a helmet and sword to do battle in!
Tuesday 28th and Thursday 30th May - Lovely Leather
Humans have been working leather for thousands of years. Have a go at making your own leather purse or wrist guard.
Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June - Let's go on an adventure!
Make a special notebook to record all your travels and adventures.
The Museum of Archaeology is moving to a new home. A new, larger gallery will be opening on Palace Green in 2014. To enable us to carry out the work for the new gallery, the Old Fulling Mill will be closing on 3rd June. During the closed period families can still enjoy craft activities on Saturdays at the Oriental Museum.
All activities run 1-3pm and are drop-in. unless otherwise stated.
Saturday 8th June - World Oceans Day
Celebrate 'World Ocean Day'. Take inspiration from the museum galleries and create your own sea creature to take home.
Saturday 15th June - Museum Bugs
Come along and find out about the bugs that sometimes eat the museum's collections and make an egg box bug.
Saturday 22nd June - Great Ganesha
Celebrate the opening of our new Hinduism exhibition by making your own elephant-god and adorn him with sequins.
Saturday 29th June - Dreadful Dragons
Find out about dragons in Chinese culture and make an amazing fire-breathing dragon!
Advice for parents and caregivers:
- All activities are drop in unless otherwise stated.
- All activities are included in the Museum admission price and are generally suitable for children aged 5 to 11.
- Children MUST be accompanied by an adult.
