The Friends of Durham University Canoe Club is the 'formal' part of what has always been known as the 'old boys'.

The group provides a formal method of keeping ex-members of the club in touch and involved as much as possible. The group organises reunions and events each year, some of which link with the existing members and some are completely separate to the club.

One of the aims of the group is also to support Durham University Canoe Club in fulfilling it's aims, by raising financial support, not just through friends group membership, but also through fundraising events.

The friends group currently organises the BUCS Slalom and BUCS Wild Water Race.
