'De-ethnicisation of religion and its ambivalences: The transnational diffusion of neo-Hindu movements and the Kabbalah Centre'

Dr Altglas's current research explores the globalisation of religious movements, through ethnographic and documentary research in Britain, France, Brazil and Israel. She has focused on the spread of practices such as yoga and meditation to the West as well as the case of the Kabbalah Centre, a fast-growing and controversial religious organisation rooted in Judaism. She has edited a four volume publication on "Religion and Globalization: Critical Concepts in Social Studies" (2010) and Le nouvel hindouisme occidental  (2005).
