Lecture theatres & additional meeting rooms

Event Durham can offer a range of centrally-located University lecture theatres and meeting rooms during the University vacations. Our tiered lecture theatres can accommodate up to 400 delegates, and we have over 300 well-equipped rooms for smaller plenary sessions.
Other facilities available inlude:
- access to laboratories, language labs and IT classrooms
- state-of-the-art audio and visual conferencing and presentation equipment.
Our central facilities are all within close proximity of each other and allow easy access. You can also enjoy the added benefit of being able to combine these facilities with residential, dining or meeting amenities at any of our colleges.

Palatine Centre
The Palatine Centre opened in Summer 2012 and houses key student services and the University’s headquarters on one site, along with Durham Law School.
The Centre has eleven meeting rooms which are available for conferences and meetings during University vacations. These which include a "Harvard Style" lecture theatre for 90 and a boardroom for 30. There is also a Cafe and Restaurant within the Centre.

Designed with sustainability in mind, materials such as solar thermal collectors, photovoltaic panels, air source heat pumps, solar shading, rainwater harvesting and sedum roofing are used in the building. The integration of these elements has already been recognised with an ‘excellent’ rating on the Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM).
Artwork also forms an important part of the Palatine Centre with a brand new art collection housed in the building.
As with all central teaching and meeting rooms, those in the Palatine Centre can be booked in conjunction with bedrooms at one of our nearby colleges, only a few minutes walk away, so that this then becomes the ideal venue for any prominent residential conference.

Calman Learning Centre
The Calman Learing Centre is the main lecture theatre complex on the University's Mountjoy (science) site.
This state of the art venue includes a 400 seat lecture theatre and two 260 seat lecture theatres. These rooms can linked by video allowing over 900 delegates to view the same speaker.

There are also two flexible flat floored rooms and a cafe area in the facility allowing the flexibility to be able to cope with most events.
The Calman Learning Centre can be booked in conjunction with bedrooms at one of our nearby colleges, only a few minutes walk away, so that this then becomes the ideal venue for any prominent residential conference.
An additional location
Event Durham is fully integrated with Event Tees and provides further world-class facilities for a whole range of events at our waterside Queen's Conference Centre in Stockton-on-Tees.
