Personal Profile
During the summer I am part of the pre-sessional management team where I contribute to materials and course development and in September I am coordinator for the one month PARSE course. Throughout the rest of the year I teach on the English Language Centre's in-sessional programme. Among the courses I deliver are: English for law, essay writing, and critical thinking.
I contribute to the Centre's teacher training programmes delivering courses to language students prior to their year abroad as a teaching assistant; and to students from the Hong Kong Institute of Education. I also supervise MA dissertations and teach on the undergraduate course "English in a Social Context", and the MA module "World Englishes".
My research interests are focused on critical approaches to English for academic purposes, English for specific academic purposes, and the professional development of EAP teachers. I have presented papers on these issues at recent BALEAP Professional Issues Meetings, and at IATEFL 2012.
