Durham Academic Language Test (DALT)
The English Language Centre offers a wide range of free Academic Language and Literacy courses and on-line activities on our DUO site to support international students during their studies. These courses are part of our In-sessional support programme and include essay writing, grammar for academic writing, presentation skills, managing academic reading and many more. The In-sessional courses are free of charge to all international students registered at the University. You can find timetables and details on the Current In-sessional Courses page.
In order to register for In-sessional courses students must take the DALT (Durham Academic Language Test). This test is designed to help students identify areas where their academic language skills may need development and enable us to suggest the most appropriate In-sessional courses. Tests are available throughout the first two weeks of term. Test times and locations are given below.
Test Dates and Times 2013
Test dates and times for October 2013 will be published towards the end of September.
You should attend only one assessment session. You do not need to book a time. Just arrive at your chosen time and bring your University user identification information to the test so we can register you for the In-sessional programme.
