From Anglo-Saxon epics to Renaissance drama, love poetry and contemporary novels – English is a rich and varied degree.
At Durham, you can study English Literature as a Single Honours degree, or as a Joint Honours degree with Philosophy or History. You can also take English Literature in Combined Honours and Education Studies with English Studies. Whichever route you take, we aim to stimulate a living interest in literature and so all our courses are designed to equip you with the study methods and knowledge to help you develop your own informed positions.
