Biography

After having gained my MA in English Literature and Comparative Cultural Studies from the University of Cyprus, I taught English at a language institute in Cyprus, before applying for a PhD at Durham University. I am currently a second year PhD student who is researching the ways in which contemporary women writers are writing about romantic love following the wholesale rejection of love by second-wave feminists. While the feminist movement led love to be classed as a female weakness and a tool through which women could be subordinated to men, modern-day writers are critically reclaiming the space of love in a way that reveals its subversive potential.
My supervisor is Dr. Jenny Terry.
