School of Education

Open Days and visits

The best way to find out more about living and studying at Durham University is to come on one of our pre-application open days.

Our programmes are based in Durham City , with the exception of our BA (Hons) Primary Education, where you study at Queen's Campus

Pre-application Open Days

You can get a taste of what Durham University and the School of Education have to offer by attending one of the pre-application events. The University will be offering three pre-application open days in Durham City on:

  • Monday 24th June 2013
  • Saturday 29th June 2013
  • Saturday 21st September 2013

And three pre-application open days at Queen's Campus:

  • Friday 14th June 2013
  • Friday 21st June 2013
  • Friday 13th September 2013

These events will provide an opportunity for those interested in Durham University to gain a real insight into the Durham student experience.

Departments, colleges and other student support services and facilities will be available for talks, tours and demonstrations. There is also likely to be a limited amount of University managed accommodation available. Places will be limited, therefore pre-booking will be required. For further information please see the University's Visit Us pages.

The Colleges and overnight accommodation

The collegiate system is a particular strength of Durham and you are advised to take the opportunity to visit one or more of the Colleges.

Post-application Open Days

If you apply and are made an offer you will have the opportunity to attend a University Post-application Open Day, either on 18th, 19th or 20th March in Durham City. An example of a typical Open Day within the School of Education for the Education Studies programmes is as follows:

10.00am Introduction and Welcome

10.15am The BA (Hons) Programme in Education Studies

10.30am Studying at Durham

11.00am Mini-lecture *

11.30am Opportunity to meet students

11.45am Plenary

12noon Close

* At this point parents will have the opportunity to meet separately with staff.

During the afternoon we will try to arrange a visit to the Partner Department that you are interested in, alternatively why not book on a campus tour (see booking forms to the right).
