Curriculum and Pedagogy
A research group of the School of Education.
Durham has a long tradition of initial teacher education and working with schools in partnership to support teaching and learning across the curriculum. There is a long-standing interest in research into the curriculum, especially mathematics and science education, but also researching cross-curricular themes such as productive thinking and creativity.
Research in science education is closely linked to the Science Learning Centre North East, part of the National Science Learning Centre network which provides outreach and impact work with schools in the North-East. The Centre for Academic Practice provides support for academics within the university for developing their own practice, as well as carrying out research into pedagogy in Higher Education.
Another area of focus is the use of digital technologies in education and the work of the multi-disciplinary Technology Enhanced Learning research group.
