EdD full-time study route

Route Organisation and Structure

Students from the UK or abroad wishing to study full-time are sometimes taught alongside the UK part-time students or MA full-time students.  We believe the learning experience on our programmes is enriched when we have students from a variety of different backgrounds.

As a full-time student you would be expected to complete all taught modules by the end of the first year.  Arrangements for the teaching of your thesis are made with your supervisors. It is usually the case that students have quite frequent contact with supervisors in the early phases of the research, followed often by a period when you work more independently. In the final phase of writing up there is usually again a pattern of more frequent supervisions. However, individual needs and projects lead to differing patterns of study and it is not possible to specify expectations of study in more detail.

You would normally be expected to study for 3 years to complete all six modules and the thesis. After the normal period of study students are not formally entitled to further supervision.
