The School of Education aims to foster internationally excellent research and teaching and has much to offer prospective students and staff. We are proud to have been awarded 23 out of a possible of 24 points for the quality of our teaching by the Quality Assurance Agency and our research is recognised for its world-class and international quality (85% in 2008 Research Assessment Exercise). We are a large department composed of around 40 academic staff, around 30 support staff, nearly 800 postgraduate students (including our PGCE students) and 400 undergraduates. We are also supported by a large number of partners from schools and colleges across the region. We have a strong international links welcoming international students, postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars from all over the world.

It is our aim to work on the most important and critical issues in education, and for scholarship here to play a key role in advancing debate, informing policy and shaping agendas
