Abstract

A linear actuator proposed as the prime mover in a low technology solar water pump has been investigated. Simulation with SIMULINK and tests on a prototype actuator have provided an indication of the output that can be expected from a pump built in this configuration. The agreement seen between simulation and tests allows more sophisticated pump configurations to be simulated with confidence.
