Biography

Dr. Qing Wang is a Lecturer in the Mechanics Group within the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences at Durham University. Dr Wang has over ten years experience in research, industrial and project management. Her PhD programme was sponsored by BAE Systems and her doctoral research was carried out to identify and develop Artificial Neural Network techniques for use within the cost model development process. Her ANN techniques have since been successfully applied to the development of consultancy work to establish thermoforming cost models within the Composite Wing Program, BAE Systems.

Her research interests focus on cost engineering, in particular manufacturing process time estimating for composite aircraft wing structure and application of advanced artificial intelligent technology in cost modelling and cost estimation. In addition, she is also interested in the function of virtual manufacturing and systems involved in operations research, product life cycle management and enterprise supply networks design.
